Custom View Scheme problem
« on: April 14, 2008, 09:44:57 am »

Hi,

I'm experimenting with making a view scheme that organizes my songs by the key they're in. I made a user library field called "key" with the default options, and I entered in a few values to test it. When I go to to my view scheme, though, I click a key and nothing appears. My view scheme options look like this. Any ideas?
Thanks

Andrew,

Normally if you created your Key field with the default value, you should be able to enter string values (such as C;C#; sol;la) in the key field of tyour tracks and with the view scheme you have set those value should appear.

Now your post makes me wonder: when you say "I entered in a few values to test it." where did you entered those values ?
If you entered them only in the Values box of the key field definition dialog, it's normal that you don't see anything in your view since no file have this field set.
What you need is to enter some values in the key field of some files using Tag.
Go to Action Window/Tag, navigate to the Key field and enter a value for the song, and so on for other songs.

Could it be simply that ?

Let us know,

Have a nice day,

Christian

No, sorry, I entered the key values in the "key" field of some files, and this is what it looks like.

i tried it with mc12, and you are right. Key as a library field does not work. but when you make a library field called for instance KeyT then it does work. guess it gets (mis?) interpretted.

Well spotted gab,

I also tried and "Key" Does not work as a user field. Tried "Cmagic Key" and it worked.
Might this be because there is a standard library field called "Keyword" ?

most likely because there's a [key] in there somewhere that is used to keep track of stacks.
if you use the 'locate stack files' tool on a stack, you will see [key]=[1234567],[1234576],[1234765] in the search bar.

Key's are something else, actually.  They are not of stacks but are used by stacks.   Also Media Jukebox 12 does not support stacks.

Great! I just named it as "key." with a period. Thanks for the help.
