Customizing the view question
« on: April 01, 2008, 11:31:08 am »

I noticed something this morning after downloading the most recent version (although I don't know if what changed was a result of the most recent version). At any rate, my view scheme looks like:

I want info below the cover art to display as two lines: 1. Album Title 2. Genre (Date)

I thought that each line would display as many characters as it could then cut off. I could adjust this based on resizing the thumbnail of the cover art.

Today I noticed that that the lines were being continued onto the next line:

It's great that the whole title is displayed but I can't figure out how to get my second line of info (which would obviously be a third line of text) to display.

Any help is appreciated.

it is only happening in the upper pane when putting multiple lines under it, not in the files pane, i think. you could change the text under the thumb for the first line like: mid([album],0,15). this gives the album from character 1 till 15. maybe it helps.

I'd reported this in the build thread:
Thumbnail Text:
If it didn't fit on one line, it used to show ... but now it just ends, or if you have two lines, goes onto the next line replacing whatever should be there.

It doesn't seem right, so hope it will be fixed :)
Putting the mid expression in works until you resize the thumbnails...
And hey, I like my dotdotdots...

I don't think the behavior is intended. I think it has accidentally changed at some stage during MC12 development.

I use

[Album Artist (auto)]
[Album]

in many view schemes, but because I normally set the thumbnails to be quite large I have not noticed the problem. If I had, I would have reported and asked for a fix.

I like the fact that the info isn't truncated. I don't care for the ellipses if they can be avoided. I would prefer to set the space between thumbnails allowing enough room for, say, a third line if necessary.

when you add an extra line to the thumb with just one space, it will do that.
nice, didnt know.

Hello,

I have the same problem since .473 (didn't update for a longer time)

I use [Album Artist (auto)]
[Album] ([Date (year)])
([File Type] @ [Bitrate])

This way I always know the file type by looking at the third line.
It strikes me that there isn't an answer after the last post about 3 weeks ago.

It seems to me either this is the new way of handling, but I would prefer the old one.
Or it's a bug and that should be fixed.

Please let us know what it is!

Regards,

Theo

OK, I will DL this version to see if it's better...

btw I have some problems with 473 when playing an audio file it stuthers (?) when saving the library or doing some other things at the same time.

Maybe this is better too with 481.

Thanks,

Yep, this fixed the lines under the thumbs!

I read through all the updates from newer MC12 versions but didn't see they fixed this.
Thanks for helping me out.
