DVD's wont play (key exchange error) BUT.......
« on: May 03, 2008, 03:36:02 pm »

Having problems playing DVD's in any application on 'newly' built computer, getting the dreaded key exchange error.  I've tried  reinstalling codecs, downloaded and installed klite codec pack, different decoders in mc12, updated video card driver (ATI) still no DVD playback

Now, here's where it gets interesting

MC12 lets me rip the movie!

Once its ripped, it plays from the harddrive as if it were the DVD (menus, special features and all)

How can it fail key exchange and not play but still be able to rip?

Here's what I'm running:

Win XP pro SP2
MC12
Hauppauge tuner card

Dell Poweredge 1600SC (it was free)
2.8gh Intel zeon
2 gig ram
ATI Radeon HD2400 pro PCI video card, 256mb memory
Creative Audigy pci soundcard
SIIG SATA adapter card
2-73gig fujitsu scsi drives
1-500gig wd SATA drive

Welcome to the forum.  You need DirectShow filters.  Try our wiki (link above) and the topics on DVD Playback and DirectShow.  Try using CCCP.
