same artist appears twice in list
« on: July 15, 2008, 04:00:29 pm »

Artist "Neil Young" has all of his albums except one, which appears as a seperate listing of "Neil Young". Spelling and spacing are the same. Definitely, I've looked at it 10 times. How does this happen?

Is there or are there any tracks on that album that have more than Neil Young added to the Artist tag i.e. a duet on one track?

What's the folder structure like?

This is the default MC field right; not a custom field?

Have you tried replacing the name with a temporary name, e.g. "temporary" and then renaming it again back to what you want.  Just to make sure there isn't some foreign invisible "thing" in the name.

That's right. I don't think MC ignores a blank space at the end IIRC.

Copy & paste the name from one of the other album's files into the album that is causing difficulties and it will likely behave. Things like lower-case " L " and upper-case " i " being indistinguishable in some fonts can cause this.

It doesn't.  It's gotten me before.  One of the Neil Youngs has a space at the end, likely.  (God, two Neil Youngs... Shudder.)
