Direct TV Channel Access
« on: September 18, 2007, 02:50:12 am »

With all the work on the JRiver Video Codec that appears to be for TV viewing, I'd really like to try using it to watch TV in my live system.

Especially since HD playback seems much better with MC than it does with my current TV software.

The only reason I can't switch over is that I don't have direct access to change channels from my remote (assign a button, or key sequence to each channel).

Any chance this could be added so I (and I'm sure others) can start using this more and hence report back how development is proressing?

Hi Richard, this is how I do it:

Thanks,

I missed that bit... probably something to do with the 283 replies!

Cheers

OK a couple of things.

I have about 40 channeks appear when I do a scan, how do I rename them so the ones I want are at the top of the list and hence have an index of 0 - 7 to make it easy to switch between them?

I tried renaming them but they end up scattered through the list, what is the list sorted/displayed on?

Also the right-click option to rename channels doesn't work, I have to go  into the tuning screen to "modify" them.

Channels can be sorted either by channel number or by Station Name. Click the respective column headers on the "TV Channels" property page. So you can name the channels like "01. BBC", "02. ABC", etc. and click Station Name column header to force them to be in the order you like.

I tried that and it didn't change the sorting, maybe it only works on certain pages like the editing?  I'll try again.

Thanks

Just want to bump these issue again.

1) Can't rename channels except in the channel Tuning screen (The right-click option in other screens doesn't work)
2) Can't sort channels in the tuning screen, but can in other screens.

and a new one, the vertical scrollbars are no longer showing in the tuning screen.
I have to use the arrows and PgUP & PgDown to get to the top and bottom of the list.

Using V .343

It should work on "TV Channels" page as well as on "Scan Channels" window. Does clicking-twice in the cell (not double-click, but clicking twice at slower speed) let you enter editing mode?

Sorting is available only on "TV Channels" page, that is by design.

I can reproduce this. Maybe something changed in the list control - I will check.

I wanted to ressurrect this thread because the workaround I use for channel changing via remote control (referenced above) does the trick but it's not simple to setup or use.  Given MC TV's maturity, is there any plan to make TV channel access more intuitive? I'd really love to be able to use the keypad on my remote to change channels like most other TV apps allow. Example:

Pressing "7" takes me to channel 7
Pressing "7" then "0" takes me to channel 70 etc...

Thanks.
