Dropouts on MP3 playback
« on: July 31, 2002, 12:54:13 am »

Hi,
I'm using PIII 600 with 384Mb memory and IBM Deskstar 128 GB
W98 SE  Media Jukebox 8.0336 So far not registered.
On MP3 Playback all songs suffer from a brief dropout after
15-50 seconds in combination with disk activity.
Is this a feature
Does it have to do with the statistics being updated or what??
The songs are mostly VBR --alt-preset standard from LAME
But also CBR 128 from Musicmatch shows the same behavior in MJB.
MJB is the only app running.

All songs play alright in Musicmatch and Winamp.

This is annoying and will eventually stop me from buying if I can't solve the problem.

What to do ??

Under settings/options there are some playback options.  Try the slider for "more responsive---more skip resistant".  Also try switching playback output between "wav out" and "direct sound".

What you're getting is not at all normal.

Thanks!
I moved the slider more towards "more skip resistant" and now it's ok!

Guess it's time to buy
