The above view might actually benefit from a small, blue? line to the right of a Tile which is the last one of the current (or bottom tier) sort field.

For example, in the above view, it's by Band, so without breaking up the view with something akin to Pane Grouping, what about a small blue line to the right of the Tile?

It would leave the view intact but would act as a subtle form of Tile grouping; a visual aid as to where the chosen sort field starts & stops.
