Transcoding estimates for MP3 work great, Ogg not so much.
« on: July 08, 2008, 10:52:46 pm »

I've been transcoding the FLACs in my library to MP3 for my Sansa for a while now, and with some adjustments in the smartlist, it works like a charm, filling my Sansa with a random selection from my library.

I recently loaded up Rockbox on my Sansa, and after playing around with it for a while, I wanted to try Ogg Vorbis on it.  Unfortunately, the compression estimates aren't nearly as good.  Using the same smartlist I used for MP3s, the only setting that wouldn't cut down my playlist was the "low" setting, which reported that 600mbs would be free.  After transferring, I checked the space remaining on the Sansa, and it came back with 2.5GB.  It way overestimated the size that the files would take up.

Any chance you guys can work on this to get a more accurate estimate?  I could go back to MP3s, but I'd like to see this functionality working correctly.
