When I select Help->Check for Updates on MJ 8.0275,
I'm informed that there is a new version of the
OggVorbis encoder, I check the box to update and
get the same error messages that other people have
complained about when trying to d/l the MP3 encoder.
'Failure to connect to update server', etc.

I have disabled my firewall, and the problem won't
go away.  More disturbing is that when I go to the
plug-ins page and d/l the OgVorbis encoder, it claims
to have installed correctly and then the Check for Update
module still claims there is an update available.

Is there some way to fix this??

The failure to connect message suggests a problem with a firewall or proxy server.

Try uninstalling your firewall and rebooting.  Some firewalls don't step aside when they should.

Also, update to 8.0.336 on our downloads page.

Also, the 'Check for Updates' option does not identify the fact that a new version of MJ is available.

It also seems like it is in a state where it cannot recognize that I have upgraded the OggVorbis encoder via the MJ plugins D/L page.  The update went fine from there, even though MJ doesn't recognize that it occured.

I am running XP, newest IE.

Should I just D/L the latest MJ and install?  Will this corrupt my registration?

Yes

Disabling isn't enough in some cases.  UNINSTALL is.  This may not be the problem, but it's the only way to be sure.
