Warning: "iTunes Data Incompatibility Found"
« on: July 29, 2008, 09:26:12 am »

Scenario:
- MC12.0.497 not running but Media Server in Tray (Vista Home SP1).
- iTunes 7.7.0.43 updates iPod Nano 3G with new firmware (not sure which at this moment but on 2008-07-28).

Result:
- MC pops-up a Warning box:

Quote
iTunes Data Incompatibility Found
(i)Warning:

Another program transferring files to your iPod is writing data in a newer format (Unknown) than the one currently supported by Media Center (iTunes 7.6.2).

Due to this, one or both of the programs may have trouble reading the data and may require restoring the iPod or re-synching content.

If you experience problems, please try updating to the latest version of Media Center.

{Ok}

I have not yet upgraded to MC version 12.0.5xx because I did not see this listed as a fix.  I just wanted to post this for others that may encounter the issue.

I will upgrade and then report anythign else that transpires.

There have been some iPod related fixes in the 5xx builds of MC12, but either way, it is always relevant to update to the latest build before reporting a bug.  The first answer from any of the developers is always going to be "update to the latest one and try again".

This means an iTunes 7.7 database is on the iPod.  The message is simply informative, and shouldn't hurt anything.

A build of Media Center 12 available later this week will switch to writing a 7.7 database instead of a 7.6 database.
