Timeshifting files not being cleared
« on: January 22, 2008, 04:50:19 am »

Are the timeshifting files in the folders named "Time-Shifting YYYY-DD-MM XX" supposed to get cleared automatically at some point? I had a look today and I've got over 100 of them (which I deleted manually).

Thanks.

They are supposed to be cleared right after each session unless you choose to save them. There was a period of time when a bug prevented the files/folders from being deleted. It should have been fixed. Do you see any recent files that is not cleared?

Yes they are all recent. Using build 417 currently and I have chosen to not save TS sessions.

Please try 419. I just tried 419 and found it working as expected. I did notice an incomplete folder on my hard drive that was created a few days ago, not sure whether build 417 did it.

Ok, I've found the problem. If you play a single channel only and stop, the folder is deleted as expected. However, if you play a channel and switch to another without stopping, the folders are NEVER deleted. I'm a channel surfer so I see hundreds of these things after only a few days!

Thanks.

An old post I know but I still find that I need to delete old TS files from time-to-time. Occasionally, things go wrong and MC will hang or my system will crash or whatever. I think that when this happens, MC doesn't get an opportunity to remove the files. To overcome this, I've had to resort to a scheduled task to do it. Is there anything MC can do to clean up after itself in any case where it was unable to do so?
