Vienna greets Zevele
« on: July 28, 2002, 04:21:18 pm »

He's probably on the ground now, fresh from Israel.  My last words to him were "go immediately to the Hotel Sacher and get one of their tortes".

After that, take a ride on their big wheel.  It's like a Ferris Wheel, but way bigger.  It has cars that house 20 people at a time instead of the standard two-seater.

and somewhere near the entrance to the amusement park where the wheel is, you may find a beer garden with great brats and pints of beer:

and isn't Vienna the home of Sigmund Freud?

zevele's probably in the museum by now:

Reminds Me Of A Story

One Of The Nice Things In Germany Is To Collect Mugs From Guest Houses. I Had Many, Many Are Broken Now I Still Have A Few Maybe 26|PLS| Years Old Now.

Nothing Like Collecting Mugs To Put Your Beer In.

The problem with a mug is that, once you put your beer in it...

you need to drink it.

Remember the Ferris Wheel from The Third Man? Joseph Cotten and Orson Welles riding it while Welles tells Cotten about his black market activities with antibiotics.

Gutten evening

In fact here only since yesterday-monday-Just more than 24hours

EIN GROß KATASTROß

31 degrees!!!!!Almost the same than in Tel-Aviv!$600,to get 31 degrees!!!!!!

We had a storm but it is still very hot.

Anyway,i found 24 lps vinyl today,5 from my want list. This 5 not cheap-$25 up to $33,but the others at very nice price.I have 2 more shops to do.....

Last year i was to Freud house.Nothing special,a 3 rooms house. But tons of documentation for someone who need it.

On 21 th July 2001.at the exat time of my 50 years ,i was in the big wheel having a drink.

But this i want to ride again.

Concerning the cake, only to see it with such a heat,i feel sick..

Latter maybe

Concerning beer,i do not know if they drink large beers as in Germany.

There is one liter, but even more 1,5 liters.Ask King, how heavy is a bock full of one liter of beer.In fact it is a kind of training....

We spent much on no-alcool drinks than on food today.....

There is more to say about Vienna,I will try to tell you,when #normal temperatures back;

I have problem to type.there is lot of strange letters, and you have to put on block letters  to get that you get on normal letters on an english  keyboard

Here a post card from Vienna

Yeah, but the problem with the stupid Ferris Wheel is that
a.) it isn't that big
b.) It doesn't really go around... You get in, move one cars distance, then they unload/load more people. Repeat that until you are back on the ground, and that is what you get.

I thought that was pretty lame.

Aside from that, I love Vienna. Was just there in May.

my bag was quitte heavy, even with the lps in the room and....at the bottom I FOUND THE KAROLUS 10 DAYS!!!!

Going to post office to send you back

Jason is right about the Wheel. The only way is to be a texan with petrol and to buy all the tickets at once.....but not sure they give visa to texans here.......

Vienna is a town easy to understand, and a cool town.people are cool as well, some may say dull. But it is not my opinion.

it is a small country -around 7 millions people-Vienna is 1.5 millions people. So you get a quitte life.

Not a lot of internet-cafe.Do not know what it means:anyone has internet or not yet important here

You allmost do not see wireless phones here.

There is a lot of beautiful buildings here, and a lot of green, parks, gardens.

The funny thing is that a lot of buildings look like the ones you se in the north,Norway,Sweeden,Danemark,Finland and of cause Germany,

But Austria is not a northen country, quite in the center of Europe.

If you are from Europe, you have a different view of Austria than before.

Austria was the far est of Europe-i mean the free one,Most of the countrys around part of the communist block.

Now Austria is at the heart of Europe.Reading a little you see that she is again the main link to many countrys of the est and that she plays again his historical role.

A stay here -with a normal weather- is a great pleasure

More to come in the next days

not having social life anymore,i started to keep hairs long.Well at this time ,just a little on the ears.Do not know if i will keep it long or not

But i have all my hairs, and quite a lot,not on my way to be bald for sure

When i spoke about Finland,it was according to what i saw on movies. All the movies with action in russia like james bond oo7  are in fact done in Finland.

But i never been in Finland

There is a movie if you want to see Vienna; sunrise or before sunrise.

A very nice movie,A french(?) girl and an american boy meet in the evening, they are both going home the next morning and they spend the nigth in Vienna. The kind of american movie we-normal people-love

How about writing "Media Jukebox" in big letters on a piece of paper and taping it to your back?  Or a paper fish?  Something so we know you.

Does it say "zevele.jpg" or not?

Yes, Jim, it does ... but only if I remember to right click the picture and look at "properties" ... which somehow escaped me even though I have done it many times before. Duh. Remember, I'm the guy that misplaced 10 whole days that somehow made their way to Vienna. And, to the best of my knowledge, I have never been to Vienna. I did eat some of those little canned sausages once, though. Once. I guess if you're hiking for three days and a bear steals all your other food, they would taste pretty good, but ...

Will he show up?  I think he said about 3:00 PM EDT.

Here's the camera:

or maybe this one:

http://relativity.einstein.at/cam3/index-rl10.shtml

If you see a guy with a paper fish or a sign that says MJ or Media Jukebox, try to grab the picture and e-mail it to me (jimh @ jriver.com) so I can post it here.  You can right click on the image in IE and do "copy" then paste it into an image editor or paint program.
