Remote control MC
« on: September 27, 2008, 04:59:29 pm »

Hi

Have been using MC for some time - but have gotten to a point where I would like to control it from a remote. I am also considering a touch screen in the kitchen. However theather view is not very sophisticated - and user configurable. I used Meedio once, which I could customize completely.

What do you recommend as a front end for MC?

And what remote control solution do you recommend? I have a Nevo SL lying around but sadly it cannot be integrated...

Any advice appreciated.
TIA

Have you used Theater View in a recent version?  What do you find missing?

I am running v11 - when you press anything (eg. a genre) in theater view you get a dropdown (open, play, select) - I find that too advanced.
You can get to zones setup - which is not something that should be possible in Theaterview.

Ideally it should be possible to define what functions are available in Theaterview.

Moreover I have a calculated genre field, which consist of more genre fields. How can I select from this based on all genres used - if I select rock, find all [genrecomplete] that contains rock

And what about search with a qwerty keyboard on screen?

MC11 is a couple years old now.  A lot of things have changed.

MC13 is on the MC13 board here.  MC12 is on the downloads page.  Either would be worth a look.
