I am wondering if there is a shoutcast-type plugin for MediaJukebox?
At work, I set up a dedicated computer on our LAN which sends out four different "radio station" streams over the LAN which can then be played in the offices, etc, in the building. We are using Winamp at the moment (because of shoutcast) but managing playlists is a bit of a nightmare (as was setting up four shoutcast servers to run off one machine). I use Media Jukebox to update the playlists (because it rocks!), which are refreshed by Winamp at midnight each night (it's a long story but it seems that it has to do this to work...), thanks to windows scheduler...
Anyway, my wish (and I suppose that this should be on a wishlist somewhere) is for someone to develop a similar plugin for Mediajukebox. Ideally (and if you do this, you're made, in my eyes!) you should have only one copy of Mediajukebox running, and the plugin is capable of sending out "x" number of simultaneous streams. The client machines need only a very simple piece of software telling them what streams are available and to play the selected stream.
The plugin would use a playlist for each stream, refreshing it whenever it reached the end of the current cycle. Smartlists would be IDEAL because you can also have options not to play songs that have been played in the last two hours or so. This would make it easier to get a classical station, a pop station and a rock station going.
Sigh... in a perfect world!!
