How do I use filename dates in Media Library?
« on: May 10, 2003, 01:35:48 am »

Ok, I have read over most of the FAQ's I could find and I have not found the answer to this: I imported all my media (MP3's)from one directory into a new library.  It uses the date that I imported the files in (import date).  My question is how do I use the FILE date (MODIFIED date, as if looking in "My Computer" at the directory.)  I understand one can use customize fields, but I cannot find out how to CREATE a custom field.  The reason why I want to do this is because as I get new songs, I would like to see the latest songs in my media library, sorted according to the date, newest date first.  Importing over 1000 songs have all the same date, the day I imported them.   If someone has some input into this, I would surely be grateful.  I have the 8.0.398 release of MJ Plus.  I am running Win98Se.  Thank you!

Have you tried using the "Recently imported" playlist? If you reverse the order you'll end up with a list of your new additions sorted by most recent. I'm using it every day this way.

Also, make sure you uncheck the box "Clear 'recently imported' playlist on exit" if you want to preserve this playlist for that purpose.

Hope it helps.
