Using a Windows XP platform whenever I try to save a wav file as an mp3, the program fails and asks me if I want to send a message to microsoft.  Can anyone assist me in solving this problem.

Thanks.

JimH:
Make sure you have the MP3 encoder plug-in.  You can get it from our web pages.

mkf:
Thanks for the advice.  Went to site and downloaded the mp3 encoder 2.0.51 ...still didn't work

JimH:
I don't know what the problem is.  Try saving as wav.  Then import into MJ and try converting it there.

BruceLHill:
I just downloaded Media Jukebox 8.0 and had the
same problem.   All the mp3 plug-ins crashed Media
Editor 1.1.35 on Windows XP.  The OGG encoder
appeared to work, but the song plays back at the
wrong rate, sounding like chipmunks.

Downloading the more recent version of the plugins
didn't appear to help, till I noticed that the plugin
directory didn't have the new plugins.   Turns out they
ended up in $TEMP.   Double-clicking them did the
install.

Then I was able to save as both MP3 and OGG, but
still had the same rate problem.   To solve that I had
to use the format converter on the Media Editor
Tools menu to covert the WAV bitrate from 22.1khz
to 44.1khz.    After that it did the encoding correctly.
