Auto Collapse Tree?
« on: November 17, 2008, 04:00:10 pm »

I just realized this is no longer there.

Why was it removed?  Any work-arounds?

If you have auto expand on, it will also auto collapse.

Hi Matt,

Thanks.  Maybe I don't understand "auto collapse" then because mine doesn't (12.0.534).  I thought, perhaps erroneously, that if I was to expand a 2nd branch of the tree then the first expansion would collapse on its own, without my having to click on it again.  Am I just not remembering correctly?

If you expand by clicking the item, it should collapse when you click away.

If you expand by using the plus/arrow symbol in the tree, that's considered a "manual expansion" and so won't auto-collapse.

Just let us know if you're seeing something other than this.  Thanks.

Ah!  Thanks!

It works exactly as you say.  I guess I just got confused somewhere along the way... not surprising. :-[

I have a view scheme called "Workshop" that is selectable as a tree item in it's own right.

It has children called "Audio" and "Images", again, both selectable as views in their own right.

Each of these children contain views used for library and file maintenance.

If I click on "workshop", the "Workshop" view loads. When I click on it again, it expands.
I then click on "Audio" and the view loads, and when I click on it again, it expands. Finally, I select an audio view scheme I wish to work in.

If I now click on "Workshop\Images", the view loads, but the "Audio" branch remains open.
I click on Images again and it expands. The "Audio" branch still remains open.
I pick an "Images" view scheme to work in, and the audio branch remains open.

I click on the default "Audio" item in the tree (top left, and again, "allow tree selection" is turned on here too) and both the "Workshop\Images" and the "Workshop\Audio" branches remain open.

Maybe it's not mean't to work this many levels down? I'm not sure, it's been like that for some time. It doesn't bother me hugely, but thought you might like to know.
It seems to me that, with "Auto Expand" turned on, I should not need a second click to open the parent views.
