I will admit, the new way of handling multiple view schemes is better.  However, it is still not ideal for beginner users.  Instead of allowing users to select a view from the upper row of items, what if they were just listed, one after the other.  So on the screen, it would show all items from the first, then all from the second, etc.  I use view schemes that keep things simple: by grouping items / rating.  So each top-level of my view schemes are generally less than 15 items and don't scroll indefinitely.
