Trouble With 'Sort By' in Standard Mode
« on: January 13, 2009, 10:04:25 pm »

I'm relatively new to JRiver. Just purchased a copy of 13 about a week ago and so far I'm pretty amazed. It's a obsessive tagger and media neat-freak's dream. I'm just having one slight problem.

In video, in standard mode, I'm using a Genre > Series > Season scheme for a large collection of dvd rips. That much works wonderfully.

It's on the file display on the bottom I'm running into trouble.

I have that grouped by season and then for "sort by" I have episode a-z (using episode like track #)
With the desired result (for example) looking like this:

Season 5

81. Stewie Loves Lois
82. Mother Trucker
83. Hell Comes to Quahog
(and so on)

Season 6

99. Blue Harvest
100. Movin' Out (Brian's Song)
101. Believe It or Not, Joe's Walking on Air

The grouping by season works fine but for some reason no matter what I try and use for "sort by" it always lists by date and then name. If I click on the column header by "episode" it will display correctly but only until I click something else or refresh and it goes back to listing by date and then name.

(in an attempt to get it to work I removed my dates so now it sorts by name, but the default seems to be date first, then name)

I've tried a variety of different approaches but nothing I do seems to fix the problem. I figure there's probably a step I'm missing though (or perhaps this is just a bug.) I've found some people on the forums with similar issues with music in customized views but have yet to find an answer.

For the record, also, I'm not having the issue in theater mode where display by episode seems to be working just fine.

If anyone could help me out I'd be very grateful. Here are my current settings:

Check the Album Artist (Auto) or Album tag fields. One of these may have the import date entered as the default value.

I'm not really sure what I'd be looking for (nor do I want to screw anything up for my music display which does work perfectly)

So... here's some more screen shots that may help.

and here's a random file that sort of represents how all the videos are tagged:

I think it's a bug.  We'll try to get it fixed in a coming build.

Thanks for the nice report and the purchase.
