Using Nested fields for pane tagging: How to tag the root?
« on: January 19, 2009, 07:42:34 am »

Subgenre Column

Alternative/Indie-Rock
  This Folder
  College-Rock
  Heartland Rock
  Americana

Only the last 3 have checkboxes next to them.
I know that the root shows up in the sugbenre tag:
 Alternative/Indie-Rock\College-Rock;  Alternative/Indie-Rock\Heartland Rock, etc

But I can't tag a tune as being just Alternative/Indie-Rock using checkboxes; I have to manually type it in. It's inconsistent with tagging one of the nested items.

Perhaps there is another way?

Currently this isn't really supported.  The thinking is that it's a little confusing to allow placement in the group and in the group's children with checkboxes.

For example, I would expect the group checkbox to add / remove all the children instead of being its own tag.

Yes, I see your point.
But there is the "This Folder" that does what I want.
Perhaps that could have a checkbox?
