normalize before encoding

Hello Media Jukebox folks!

I have a question that I am curious about and have looked around unsuccesfully for the answer.

Under Recorder Setting and then under Encoding Settings is a box that can be clicked entitled Normalize Before Encoding. What does this mean, and what can it do for me when I am encoding to mp3??? Thanks for any enlightenment!!!!!

it attempts to make the sound at the same level as other mp3's at the same level. you may want to check out the other options for replay gain it may be better for doing this (it is new).

some info on both are in the help file

It's in the help file.  I was going to paste it here, but it's a waste of space.  Just launch Help, go to the "search" tab, and search for "normalize".  Double click "Encoding Settings" (then scroll down to find NORMALIZE BEFORE ENCODING), then double click "Normalization".
