Burning actual files instead of just the playlist
« on: January 26, 2009, 09:18:38 am »

I think I have issues...mentally.

I want to burn a data DVD from from my playlist of about 500 mp3s.  I put the blank DVD in my DVD burner.  I highlight all the files in the playlist.  I right-click and send them all to the burner.  The burner is set for Data CD or DVD.  I click next.  Then I click Burn.  What do I get from this exercise?  A play list.  Not the mp3s... a tiny little play list.

I think my brain is melting.  What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure how this would happen. Does it act like it's sending all the files during the burn process? Are you sure your files aren't in a sub-folder on the disc?  If you look at the playlist, does it list all the files you thought were supposed to be burning?

The only thing being written to the DVD is one file Playlist.m3u.  The total file size is 21 kb.  There are no other files on the disk.

Thanks for your interest and any help you could give.

In further response, I tried it 3 times, twice right clicking on the actual play list and sending it to the burner and once actually highlighting all the files and dragging and dropping them in the burn folder.

Each time I do it the drive is done writting in a few seconds.

Could you send me a log file?

1. select logging at:  Help / Logging... / Output to a log file
2. put a dvd in and send your files to the burner
3. select the "Options" button in the burn action window, click "Burn settings" and select the "Test mode" option to avoid using up your dvd.
4. after the burn completes, go back to Help / Logging..  and select "click to email log files"
5. send to:
johnt at jriver dot com

Thanks
