Help before I go completely loopy !
« on: February 04, 2009, 02:39:41 pm »

How can I turn off the new main library view "panes". I've been using MC for ten years and have got used to the way my library of music looks.

When I click on "Audio" in the tree now, instead of the traditional list view of my music, I get this ghastly "panes" view with album and artist in massive type and blank white spaces between each artist/album.

Right-click the view and pick "Customize View".

Or add a new view.

Or pick "Artists" or "Albums" or any other stock view under Audio.

Matt, could you give more details?  I tried the first 2 and it wasn't clear what to do (I still had panes).  I tried the third, which I imagined would be dirt simple, and I still had panes.

Thanks,
Fred

Actually it might not be "Panes" I'm trying to remove - I'm trying to get rid of the grouping by album.  For example, right now I'm trying to do some replaygain testing and find the loudest and quietest tracks I have in my entire library.  If I add the Replaygain column and then click on the header (to sort by replaygain value), it just sorts inside each album, not across my whole library.

I sort by replay gain periodically across my library without difficulty.  I don't group by album (or anything) when I do that (or you have the problem you describe).  I think you just need to play with your customize view or create a new view to not have any groupings (if I have the term correct).
