iPod classic 160GB + MC13 - which version of iTunes?
« on: May 01, 2009, 01:17:11 am »

Hi,

I have a iPod Classic 160GB which I would like to synch with MC13. I built a Vista-64 system and I do not have any version of iTunes on it currently. Do I need to install any iTunes version in order to be able to synch with MC13? If so, which version of iTunes is recommended to install?

thanks,
Osho

Works fine for me (on an 80 gig classic), I just verified with 13.0.161.
Music (mp3's), pictures and video all ok. Coverflow works.
You don't need any version of itunes installed, you'd just need that to update the firmware and if it works there's no need to update the firmware (I've got the current firmware, 1.1.2).

I have several 160gb which I bought to ensure that my accessory speaker systems charge them (they don't charge new versions, e.g., the 120gb) and to ensure compatability with MC (although these posts say the 120gb works fine and isn't encrypted).  13.x works fine.  I am using itunes 7.x (only because Jim has scared me) for firmware update only (but there hasn't been one in ages (I concur that 1.1.2 is the current version).  It appears a number of people are successfully using 8.x to update firmware. Without blowing MC13 out of the water.

I have a 160gb classic and vista 64, everything works just fine for me.  No Itunes installed either.
