POSSIBLE BUG - My Movies data import
« on: April 16, 2009, 02:54:49 am »

Hi guys, just imported all of my "My Movies" data into MC using the new functionality for the first time. Seemed to work, but when I checked the results it looks like the data has been loaded against the wrong titles...... I did a quick mpl export to illustrate,,,,

Your My Movies video was specified as "on-line folder", so MC assumed it is a ripped DVD in VIDEO_TS folder.  I do not know how the video name got mixed with another movie.  Do you have another movie in your My Movies collection that you might have specified a wrong name?

You might be able to find your "Shine A Light" movie under Video > File Type ifo in MC.

If the movie "Shine A Light" is actually an avi file, you should specify it as online file type, not online folder type.  You can change the setting in My Movies by clicking the Discs button.

Interesting, I've been compressing DVD rips to AVI files and not telling My Movies that I've been doing it. But it has not made any difference when playing the movies through Vista MCE on another machine. The AVI's are still in the specified folder, so you could argue that pointing to the folder is technically correct. I'll try changing a few and re-run. But it still doesn't explain why valid data is being posted to the wrong file.....

OK, I've been persevering with this but it still doesn't seem to be right. I've followed these steps.

1. Ripped a DVD to the following folder \\SERVER\Movies 2\West Side Story

2. DVD rip is stored in a VIDEO_TS subfolder, \\SERVER\Movies 2\West Side Story\VIDEO_TS

3. Run Auto-Import across the folder and it creates an entry in the MC data base with the correct name, file type of ifo, and filename of

    \\SERVER\Movies 2\West Side Story\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.dvd;1

Apart from the usual time and date stamps there are no other tags.

4. Add an entry for West Side Story to the My Movies database. Entry points to folder \\SERVER\Movies 2\West Side Story\VIDEO_TS. Export My Movies database to XML file.

5. Import XML file to MC as a play list. Import creates a second entry in the MC database, also with the correct filename, file type of ifo, and with the My Movies data in various tags. the File name is

\\SERVER\Movies 2\West Side Story\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.DVD

Both entries will play the DVD. I've run the same process but with My Movies pointing to an AVI file. In this case the My Movies tag data is added to the original MC entry.

Help.

Oh, and if I do the obvious simple thing of deleting the original MC entry, and leaving only the one with the tag data.....

Auto-import re-adds it next time around.

Is it possible to fix this so that the entry created for an ifo from a folder scan and from a playlist item are the same...........

Thanks for reporting this.

It is indeed a bug in the new playlist importing thing.  I overlooked the ";1" suffix.  I will fix it so both methods will use the suffix.
