How do I set the "Assorted = NO" parameter when ripping?
« on: June 04, 2009, 06:46:15 am »

Am trying to rip into artist folders and don't want to use Assorted - but can't find how to set that for ripping options.  Can find the option in the rename, move & copy option, but not anywhere else - help!

See this article: http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/Using_Album_Artist_and_Album_Artist_(Auto)

See Options->File Location->Ripping, Recording & Other Audio.  Set the Folder rule as you want (probably Artist in your case).

The link is missing the closing parenthesis. (It's a bug or more likely a feature in the forum software. It can automatically parse links even if they are written in parenthesis. You must use the url tags if the link ends with a parenthesis.)

Here is a good thread about MC's clever automatic "Album Artist" system:

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=33255.0

You may want to consider adding the "Album Artist" and "Album Artist (auto)" columns to your rip view and using the "Album Artist (auto)" field in your naming rule, for instance: [Album Artist (auto)]\[Album]

Then you could always decide if you want to use a named album artist with an album that contains several track artists.

Here's a screenshot of my "rip columns":

In this case someone might want to select all tracks and type Bob Dylan in the Album Artist field. All songs in this soundtrack album are composed by Bob Dylan and the events in the film are based on Bob Dylan's life.
