BUG: 327
« on: July 14, 2002, 06:30:48 am »

* Inserted a new CD
* after trying to get its cddb, I am prompted that there is no info on it and I may enter a new one.
* I enter all info and click the save
* I see the CDDB icon, Thus MJb probably sent the cddb, I just added.
* The cd starts playing
* All the data I added is lost, the tracks have no names (Track 1)
* When I Eject in re-insert the cd I still get no cddb data on it.

I would also Like to point out that if I use a combination of the backup utility " second copy 2000" and the UDF packet writer InCD (by the nero makers) MJB is stock in the "analizing your devices" stage.
Cpu usage goes to full, and the only way put is to kill MJB.

well part of it is it may take 72 hours for CDDB to ok the description that you enter. when you enter it, it does not go directly into CDDB's database, it must first be reviewed by them then they will activate it.

There's more bugs than this.

MJ has become useless. CD-R/W is undetectable by MJ only. Every other piece of software I have that can access that drive shows it.

Updating ASPI did nothing to help in any way, shape, or form.

Trying different versions of MJ leaves me with a lot of download time and no joy.

.327 is now installed and keeps giving me a GDI.EXE error. Unable to even start MJ. Just closes. I'd like to post system info, but since I can't even get MJ to stay open, that will not happen. It is elsewhere in the forums.

I certainly hope that this gets more then a passing glance come Monday.

>> GDI.EXE

thats a graphics problem.

did you try to reduce the screen size, and colors to see if it will load?

Also driver problems? reinstall current video driver.

I take it your using Windows 98\ME

KingSparta,

I know this a graphics error. Have not changed anything besides MJ updates and ASPI. Why would either of these prompt such messages?

Machinehead,
I'm fairly sure this isn't an MJ problem.  Perhaps the drive is, but the rest definitely aren't.  If it were, this forum would be on fire.

I wasn't sure at first, now I am: Please try to run MJ on a pc that has the latest InCD installed, with a UDF CDRW in the drive.

I would love to help debuging this,

There are several threads that are complaining about this very problem. I can't for the life of me figure why a change in the aspi layer and an update of MJ would cause this. These are the only changes.

Here is a link to the Incd page.

I think that Adaptec's Direct CD is better known,

Please Install it, format a cdrw, and have it in the drive, as you load MJb and click the cd,dvd and handheld.
I also advise inserting an audio cd after a UDF cd is in the CD-ROM drive.
Both cause the melfanction on my end.

Asapi 4.71  btw,

Up at bat-again....

Just to try before I really start to drink heavily, I deleted EVERY J River file and registry entry. Cleared out MJ and Easy CD Creator. Right now in the process of downloading .320 from the download page.

I really hope this works. If not the dreaded re-format is going to take place, and the liquor stores are closed on Sunday. There is, howver, the local watering hole......Have not had a table-full of white russians in a while.

Unfortunately, the problems described are present in my system, as well.  The first click on CD, DVD, and Handhelds is met with a prolonged "analyzing devices", but doesn't crash MJ.  I can move to Media Library and other views without problems, however, on the next CD, DVD, and Handheld click, MJ crashes.

Shelly,

Isn't that a very old ASPI version? They are up to 4.71 now.

Thanks for letting me know about upgrading my ASPI, Charlemagne.  My version was ancient.   However, the incompatibility between InCD and MJ persists.  The only way I can get MJ to function is to remove InCD from my system.  I hope that MJ can get this resolved.

One foot out the door.  Will not be able to respond to any questions, but:

I'm using Nero and InCD (latest version) with MJ and have experienced no problems.  (Except for duplicate tracks when downloading from emusic)

Windows XP Pro

Upgraded Nero from 5.5.8 to 5.5.9 and am happy to report that the problems with InCD and MJ are resolved.

Well you were right,
It wasn't MJ fault,
I updated to the latest nero,
Found that an update is necesory for my plextor to run under win2000.
And now when I run your 330 version I get no more freezing.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
