I keep my main computer in my basement (read man-cave).
My wife is never far from her laptop (read Facebook-machine), so using the new TRemote feature of Media Center to control playback around the house with a laptop seems perfect. It would be a lot slicker than the UPnP box system we're using now, where we're wrestling with tiny displays and clunky remotes.
So as a test, I ordered a wireless soundcard, an AirLink 101 Wireless Music Bridge, for $30 on eBay. But I can't get it to work at all on Windows 7 x64. Half the installation ended up in the Windows folder.
So now I'm trying to figure out what hardware to use instead.
Running really long SPDIF cables from the computer to amps around the house is my next bet, but the distance is a problem. Copper runs seem to get spotty after about 30-40 feet, and I haven't seen really long optical cables.
Anybody have any leads on wireless soundcards, or any other good ideas?
