CD write problem. 2nd post still no support?
« on: July 10, 2002, 03:30:19 am »

When I go to write a CD the Playlist flashs on and off continuosly. As soon as I put a CD in the CD writer the hourglass begin to cycle over and over. When I actually start to write a CD the message box "Analysing Devices" flashs on and off continuoslly. 2nd post still no support.

Sorry your posting was missed. Try turning off "auto-insert" notification. See the "CD burning tips" under the section headed "What are the optimum CD device settings for burning?" for info on how to do this.
Please let us know if this helps and post your system info here (available in MJ on the Help menu).

Thanks,

Thank you that seems to work. Why do you need to disable DMA support? I thought that was supposed to make things runs faster.

you might need to provide some info...

CD-R\w Drive Model\Make

Go TO Help, System Info, Copy Info And Paste It Here For Maybe Some Help.

Also Reading The Burning FAQ may help if you have not yet.

KingSparta and others,

This has inflicted my machine also. CD-R\W has become undetectable by MJ. Two builds now. Option for detect is grayed out. Something isn't right here. This sucks.

MachineHead

there might be a registry problem. there may be a key you can delete and re-install MJ or something.

maybe a back up of the data folder, Uninstall to include registry entries, and reinstall

Harry, Danielle, Machinehead,

Sorry about the problems, not sure what's causing it.
Are you all running Win98 or ME? Please post your system info here. Danielle, it's available on the Help menu in MJ: just click "Sytem info.." then "copy to clipboard" and paste it into a posting here.

Meanwhile, like the King says, try uninstall and tell MJ to remove registry entries, then try reinstall.

Thanks,

JohnT:

Win98 (First), PIII, 466MHZ, 160, 2 drives: 40G and 12.9G. The burner icon has also disappeared from My Computer.

This happened in a much earlier build, don't remember which one. Went through a reinstall then which seemed to clean it up (as King suggested), but haven't been able to do it this time since my access is down at home.
