How to get Sync Library to work?
« on: August 27, 2009, 10:03:09 am »

I have th latest build of MC14 on my laptop, which I only use on the road, I also have it installed on my Desktop, which I use in the office.  My office computer has my entire music collection on it.  I am trying to get this copied to my laptop in such a way that I can sync them on a regular basis.

I tried to create a new Library on the laptop, then started the Library Server on my desktop and laptop.  The select Sync Library on the laptop, and select my desktop. When I started the sync, it oes as far as analysing files, then seems to end normally.  When I look in the media folder on the laptop all the folders have been created, but there are no music files.

I am doing this on a wired lan, so connectivity should not be a problem.

Can you please explain what step I am missing.  THanks

We see the same thing, and are investigating.  Thanks for the report.

Just to help in your investigation, I tred a few options to see if I see anything that might cause this problem.  Firstly I switched off the firewall on both computers. no difference.  I also changed the drive letters and root folder names so they wre the same on both computers.  No difference....

I also switched on logging, and checked the log after another attempt to sync.  The log shows no error messages, and lists how it is copying each file, but no file is actually copied.

Finally, I manually copied all the media files to the other computer, then tried to use th sync to sync the librabry files and playlists etc.  All the playlists etc. were created, but all empty.

Not if this will help you, but I hope so.

Thanks

I'm sure they work on it. A build with a fix will probably be available soon.
