Well, next week I'm off for a 10 days trip in New Brunswick, one of Canada Altantic provinces. I'll be driving there and I'm going to bring my portable Archos 20 Gb with a good chunk of my music collection, but I'm looking to upgrade my portable powered speakers. I have some very ancient Aiwa that have served me well, but it's now time to move on...

Anybody has some good reference? Size and performance are the driving factors in the search

Thanks
Claudio

Sony makes a pretty good little speaker set for about $80.  Very good for the size.  Folds to a very small package.

Could you get your Archos playing through the car stereo?  May be a cheaper answer...

I like these  Bose Mediamates.

Only $99 at Bose's website and $40 to $80 on eBay.

Thanks for the ideas...

I ended up buying the "folding Sony" ( http://www.7-24outlet.com/sonsrwalport.html ) since they were available at a nearby store, while for all the other options I had to order, and I got started a little late to be sure to receive the delivery.

They sound really good with the Archos!
