Auto-Rename files during handheld synchronization?
« on: October 08, 2009, 06:22:18 am »

Hey,

is there a possibility to let Media Center automatically rename the files with another naming scheme (for example from "[Track #] [Name]" to "[Artist] - [Name]) while transferring files to a handheld device? For now I have to do this per hand...

Thank you very much for your help!

Sorry to ask again, but isn't there any way to do this?   ?  :(

It wouldn't be such a problem when the "Rename, Move & Copy Files" entry in the context menu would be available in the handheld view, but it isnt. You have to navigate to the Menu to get to the rename dialog.

Not sure exactly what you are after, but I use a script to rename all multi-artist albums before I transfer them to my iPod.  That's for the tags as opposed to the file names though.
