Lossless to the iPod
« on: December 25, 2009, 01:09:12 pm »

I wish MC supported Apple Lossless format directly. However, I found a roundabout way of accomplishing this:

http://gizmodo.com/5207476/how-to-manage-an-all+lossless-music-library-with-itunes

This works, but I was wondering if there is a more-direct route to lossless files on the iPod?  Thx!

(oops, should have been posted in iPod forum, can a mod kindly move this thread? thx)

I store my files in Apple Lossless m4A in MC. I convert them with Easy CD-DA Extractor. Then, when I load my iPod, they go straight in w/o compression. But, I find MC will not write the m4A at all, even though the messages say it does. So it's cumbersome...but I usually rip to FLAC, edit the tags using MC, inc. adding the cover art, and then convert to m4A with Easy CD-DA. I wish MC supported Apple Lossless appropriately.
