1. Did you exceed the 650MB limit?

2. what data did you try to burn? audio or data (mp3)?

3. make sure you don't have mp3 streaming file on the queue.

4. please check the test mode box for testing. uncheck any non-essential boxes. see if it helps.

Well, but i am not MJ staff.

I am getting a similar error. After the WMA files are prepared prior to buring an Audio CD I get the following error message: Device Error Occurred: Error Number is 1002, KEY:2 ASC:4 ASCQ:8. Very annoying. I am using Windows XP (including Windows Update Burning patch), Abit Nforce RAID Motherboard, although DVD-R Pioneer DVR104 is using normal IDE slot as Master. I have checked my ASPI layer and this is OK and present, my DVR104 is also detected by MJ, I have tried burning at only 1X and still I get the same message.I am using the latest version of MJ, 8.0.3.1.8. I can burn if I use Windows Media Player for XP or Nero, but I want to burn using the best player, i.e MJ! Any ideas?

M Drury-
There is a known problem with Pioneer DVD recorders and the generic burn library in MJ. Can you uncheck the "use generic library" checkbox and see if it works better?

C Noggy Nog-
If the error is occurring at the very end of the burn process, it might be a case of "auto-insert" notification causing the problem. Also try unchecking "use generic driver". Check out the FAQ and "CD burning tips" under the Help menu on this page. If it's still not working, post your system info here ("System info.." on MJ's help menu).

Thanks John T, the only option I can find is under MJ options, CD-Writer settings, there is a checkbox for "Use Generic Driver" but it is greyed out not checked. Is this what you mean? The Pioneer DVD-R Drive is shown on this page. Any other ideas? Is there some sort of config file what I can edit outside of the options?

M Drury-

Even though you have Aspi installed, it looks like our Goldenhawk burner component doesn't yet support your drive, and the generic driver has a bug with Pioneer DVD writers. The problem is being worked on. Hopefully we'll get a bug fix soon and you can download the update.
Sorry I can't be of more help at this time.

Thanks John for your help, hope you can get a fix soon, will just have to export the playlists in m3u format then burn using Nero but I would rather use MJ, also has a great CD Labeler program. Oh well, just have to be patient or change my drive, not sure if I have ever changed my hardware to suit a program but MJ is nearly this good!

One thing to try:

Click on "My Computer" and right-click on the DVD burner drive and choose "Properties". Now select the "Recording" tab and uncheck "Enable CD Recording on this drive". This will turn off the internal XP burning capability which *may* be interferring with our generic driver (the error message you had means the drive couldn't be opened for writing).
Not sure if you have to reboot after making the above change - probably.

Another approach is to follow this tweak:

Go to "administrative tools" in the control panel, and in the "services" list, disable the IMAPI CD-Burning COM service.
(Note: manual setting is not enough it must be disabled) It is the built-in CD-burning capability for windowsXP.

John thanks for the tips, unfortunately both options did not work. I still get the error message as soon as it starts to write to the CD. However, using options on the burn window it will sucessfully erase a CD-RW to prepare for burning.

John,

Andy thoughts about my last post (below). I can get MJ to erase a CD-RW disc but still can't burn files (audio) as previously discussed.

At least you folks get MJ to say you have a burner device. Mine went the way of the Dodo bird with the last build (.323). Maybe this one (.325) will have better luck.

I'm waiting on more info about that error message and the Pioneer compatibility issue. I'll post anything I find out.

Thanks,
