Transparency in Win7?
« on: November 27, 2009, 09:21:48 pm »

Hi everyone!
I'm new to Media Center and it's not really a big deal, but I tried Noire and Jaero glass and neither of them show transparency.  Searching through the posts, it seems like it has been done and I've updated versions several times, but it still doesn't change.  Anyone have any suggestions?
I'm running Windows 7 64bit with the newest version of Media Center (101)
Thanks!

Edit: Also, I'd like to have the 3D view with the DVD covers of my movies, but I can't seem to do it very easily (especially fixing the resolution of the thumbnails).

Hi.
Have u enable AERO in win7 check it because mine is sometimes transparency no matter i set the aero off.
Try  Start==>Config panel===>Informations & performances tools Thne at the top left adjust visual effects.
I think U have done this yet but mine is ok and maybe u need to reverify that aero is disabled.
Good luck.

Yes, it's enabled.  I've been able to use it in both Windows and in other programs (Firefox, etc).

Noire Glass skin transparency is working here.

EDIT:  Eh... My build is old on this laptop.  Hold on.

EDIT AGAIN: Nah, no different... Updated to the current build and Noire Glass transparency still works fine.

I can't think why it wouldn't work.  It's working here on Windows 7 x64.

And as a disclaimer, glass support is 'experimental' for v14.  We know it has some issues since system user-interface controls don't support glass.  We mostly use our own controls, but there are a few places where system controls are still used.

FWIW, that was on Windows 7 RC 32-bit (haven't gotten around to the nasty task of reinstalling the final build on the laptop yet).  I also now tested on both of my home installs of the Windows 7 "Final" 64-bit and it is also fine on both of them.
