M C 14.0.88 Playback Fault
« on: October 24, 2009, 12:25:53 am »

Hi
I have downloaded the latest MC 14 version and when I went to play a song it jumped like a buckled track on a record  and just wouldn't play.
I then uninstalled it and went back to MC 14. 0.71 which played perfectly. I tried this new version twice more and the same jumping continued; so I'll wait on another version to update.  :(

Others have not reported a similar issue.

If it is caused by a change in one of the recent builds it is unlikely to be fixed unless you can provide more information.

For instance:
- Does MC show an error message?
- What is the file format and the complete filename (including the path)?
- Does the file show up in Windows Explorer when you right-click it and select "Locate > On Disk (external)" ?
- Do some of your files work? If yes, do the files that do not work have something in common?
- What are your settings in Playback Options? Does changing the settings help anything?
- A playback log might also be helpful for the developers (you can enable logging in the Help menu).

Hi Marko
There is no error message

The file format that won't play is MP3's on hard drive ad disc and also Audio CD's.

L:\MUSIC\Cat Stevens\The Very Best of Cat Stevens\Cat Stevens - Moonshadow.mp3

The files I have tried all have shown up in Windows Explorer when I select locate on disc external

None of the music files I have tried will play, they are all MP3. However I am able to play DVD Movies but not mp3's on the DVD's.

I checked play files from memory under playback settings and played a couple of music files with no balking and thought it was fixed but alas no!!

Sorry I tried to send the playback log but all I managed to get was the message select files and the log file is empty how do I load the log file?

Double check your output settings.

DirectSound vs ASIO vs WASAPI for example.

This is not a common problem.  My guess would be you have a soundcard driver issue with a certain output mode or output device.

Thanks.

I have said that MC version 14. 0.71 works perfectly. I have just tried version 14. 0.84 it presents with the same repeating track problem (each line sung is repeated) as occurred with MC 14.0.88. As it stands I am not able to use the benefits of any new versions.
I am using Direct sound

Device is Primary Sound Driver
