Can I tag my library without the files being present?
« on: October 30, 2009, 02:29:55 pm »

Here's my problem:

During the day when I'm not home, I often have chunks of time. Conversely, when at home, life is crazy busy - I do most of my work from home, small baby etc.
I've made a copy of my library and have it on my laptop. I would like to work on it, filling in fields, but I'm afraid I'll be bogged down with constant tagging errors when MC won't find the actual files. The plan is to save the updated tagged library. Take it home and restore it on the PC that WILL find all the files and then update the tags. Is this feasible? How can I avoid tagging error notifications?

I think you can just uncheck "update tags when file info changes" on mobile DB copy, edit any tags, and turn on it back if you want save changes in file. And of course "Update tags (from library)" action. I do it many times and don't have errors.. but for now I think better way - vpn/ssh link over router or server and remote desktop )
