Review of Media Jukebox at anythingbutipod.com
JimH:
The gurus at anythingbutipod.com were kind enough to do a Media Jukebox review. MJ did OK there.
tboy34:
What is the difference between Media Jukebox and Media Center Software's??
J-a-k-e:
In short, Media center has support for Audio, Video, and images. Jukebox only has support for audio files.
Off the top of my head Jukebox also doesn't have
- TV playback and recording via a tv tuner card or usb device.
- Red october integrated video codecs
- Theater View
- The complete dsp audio effects chain
- Network media, library sharing and remote control.
- Multiple zones.
As a pure audio player and library manager Jukebox does a lot of what media center does and is probably more than adequate for a casual user. If you're a power user, need access to the full dsp effects and or want to be able to organize and playback videos then Media Center is the what you should be looking at.
FritzStein:
I read through the Media Jukebox review. It did not mention whether MJ will play bit perfect so-called high res files such as 24 bit/96kHz and 24/192 FLAC files like Music Center 17 does.
1. Does MJ play such files "direct" out to an external DAC (no DSP or other conversion) with an AISO or WASAPI setting?
2. Is the latest MJ version essentially the music-only portion of MC 17?
