Settings - where are they stored
« on: November 30, 2009, 12:30:54 am »

I have set up MC14 the way I like it, like library and backups (default under \programs and settings\bla\bla) are on another partition and under 'options' and under 'library mgr' I have MC setup to look for data in the alternative folders.
what colums to show, where to start (audio), etc.etc.

However, once I need to setup MC from scratch - I figure I should either remember what I changed, or have screencaptures of those changes.

Is there a file where MC stores such settings (like .ini, .cfg, .dat or whatever), so in case of a fresh install, it would be sufficient to import such settings only..?

Thank you.

Most user settings are here in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 14

You could use regedit.exe to backup and restore that key.

A future version of Media Center (v15?) will contain user settings in library backups and allow restoring them when restoring a library.
