FIXED - Subs stop displaying in MKV files
« on: December 11, 2009, 02:31:45 pm »

I have a problem with Subtitles stop being displayed after 10sec or so. If I deselect and reselect the subtitle it will be fine for another 10sec or so then stop displaying again. The video and audio play perfectly - the subs just stop displaying.  I posted in the FFDSHOW thread at Doom9 and they suggested trying a range of different filters and players.  I've tried all the obvious filter changes but it is the same - when I play in MPC-HT however the file plays fine.  I've also tried on two different PC's (Win 7 64-Bit and Win 7 32-Bit)

Here is the info from the filter chain if that helps, and I'm using:
- ffdshow tryouts revision 3154
- Haali Media Splitter 1.9.42.1
- ATI HD4550 - Lastest Catalyst - Win7x64 w/Aero Glass - JR Media Center

Thanks

Is DirectVobSub (VSFilter) decoding/displaying the Subs or is it being done via some other mechanism?

Hi Glynor - I think I found it.  Un-Installed CCCP, manually installed the latest FFDSHOW, Haali Splitter, and VSFilter (I seemed to have an old VOBSUB prior to the VSFilter branch).
Thanks

CCCP includes the latest VSFilter (or at least a very recent one).  It actually looks for the old DirectVobSub on install and if it is detected pops-up a warning and offers to remove it.  So who knows how your install got messed up...

The only thing you need to do to turn VSFilter on using CCCP is to enable "Autoload VSFilter (WMP and MC Support)" on the second page of the CCCP Settings application.  This is off by default because the included MPC-HC doesn't need VSFilter anymore (as it has it's own Subtitle handling filter built-in).

I'm guessing I stuffed it up by loading VOBSUB at some stage, different FFDSHOW builds etc etc and they were then all fighting for attention!
