How to set up a VST (EQ) plug-in

I tried to set up a VST plug-in yesterday. This one:

The DSP Studio crashed and I had to reinstall JRiver. I simply pressed add plug-in, chose the top one (JRiver, VST, or Winamp Plug-in) and found the program above.
Is this not the way do to it?

How to I install a VST plug-in? I would like to try different equalizers.
