Rip failed. Initialising rip ... Read track failed. Parameter is out of range
JimH:
Is it similar to this problem?

Turning off the virus checker (TrendMicro Internet Security) solved it.

I don't really like posting on an old topic, but it seems appropriate since there didn't seem to be a definitive solution, just a suggestion.
I am running a fresh install of W7/64 and don't even have any antivirus software installed yet that may be interfering with JR (v.15.0.70).
Thank you in advance for you help.
Jim
JimH:
Try the latest build. It's at the top of the MC15 board.
Try slowing down the rip speed.
If that doesn't work, it's probably the drive or driver.
Also check the "weird problems" thread in my signature.
riverbooty:
Installing 15.0.73 did not change anything. When I click Rip, the status of the track is changed to "Ripping" but the drive does not spin up. Clicking Rip again only causes the status to change to "Failed" and it moves on to the next track in the list.
When I click Play, the song begins to play and a few seconds into the track, it loops back to the beginning of the track.
Slowing down the drive speed did not change the outcome.
The drive seems a very unlikely candidate for he cause of the problem for a couple reasons.
1) I do not have problems ripping or playing cds using WMP.
2) I found that I am not the only person with this issue using MC.
Also, I could not find anything in your other forum using the search criteria "parameter is out of range".
JohnT:
Can you send me a log file? Under Help / Logging, enable the "CD" event and checkmark "Output to a log file", start the CD rip, then after the failure do "Click to email log files" to:
johnt at jriver dot com (replace "at" and "dot" with email punctuation).
Thanks.
