Ok - I wiped and reloaded my HD (W2K - 2 years
old install) - had my license and library backups,
(actual WAV (We don't need no stinking MP3's) files
are on a different drive (maxtor 160GB ATA133)).
So - I get W2K up and running and patched, more patches,
and then some more patches, and don't forget that final
set of patches (|PLS| some more patches) OK..OK..you get the
idea... Anyway I get MJ 7.2 installed - go to restore
the license and get the dreaded - license restored Ok
message - but no real effect - still in trial mode...
Hmmm... I seem to recall there was some patch to fix that...
yep - the buy button fix - Ok download and install that and
ARGH - it will not install - says the file is in use (YES I
did have MJ closed during the install). So I get to looking
and the patch leaves the files (2 Dll's) in your default
temporary directory - Ok do a search for those to files
on C: and it finds the ones in the temp directory (duh!) and
files of the same name but older dates in \winnt\system32.
So I just copy the new files from the temp directory into
\winnt\system32 - fire up MJ - restore license - Whala! it works.
Thought this might be of help to others having this problem.
PS - MJ rocks - when it is not crashing :-(
