MJ freezes.....

The program locks up any time I analyze devices (DVD and CD-RW drives).  Further, I cannot write to a CD.  The original version and some subsequent ones worked fine, but I downloaded a version some time ago and this began to happen.  No new versions of MJ have solved the problem.  What could be wrong?

maybe uninstall, to include registry, and reinstall?
