(MC14.0.147)  ? I have a frustrating issue I am positive has a simple answer but it eludes me.  Under the "Artist" part of the Audio tree, I have a sub-column called "Various Artists" that was auto-generated by the MC14 program.  But, inside it are a whole bunch of albums from a wide variety of artists.  Some of those artists have their own independent  artist's name under the "Artist" main branch (under Audio ).  In that case, I simply drag and drop them from "Various Artists" to their respective individual artist's name.  But there are others that MC14 has put under "Various Artists"  (even with an appropriate and correct album name and cover art) that I don't know how to move to being on their own since there is no artist by that name already on the "Artist" tree (the one under main heading Audio).  Renaming them doesn't help, and even if I do, when it comes time to look up the Cover Art on the internet from within MC14, the artist name remains "Various Artists" at the point it starts looking for cover art.  Jeez.  I hope that doesn't confuse anyone any further than I am myself.

So, the question boiled down is, how do you get "orphaned" artists under the heading "Various Artists" to be on their own, with their own name as  part of the "Artist" sub-heading (under the "Audio" tree.)

I have a second and no-doubt easier question also.  MC14 has taken cover art that belongs elsewhere and attached it to the wrong artist.  It only does this sometimes, because on others it substitutes two grey musical notes in the square where the cover art would be.  How do I stop that, and is it possible to name a "default" cover art (besides those musical notes) for those cases where I cannot obtain cover art from the Internet?

Perhaps these two links can help:

In order to avoid further confusion, please understand that in many places MC uses the term (Multiple Artists) instead of Various Artists. They mean the same thing. I think Various Artist shows up only in the headers in grouped views.

Please read the following wiki page first: http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/Cover_Art. If it doesn't give the answers you need I'll try to help.

Here is an automatic way to do what you want: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=47277.0

Alternatively you can simply link any image file from the disk. (select the files and do: right-click > cover art > add from file). I created an image for this purpose a long time ago (feel free to use it if you for some odd reason happen like it):
