Confusion (or bug) w/Search box
« on: April 23, 2010, 01:29:33 pm »

Something is not making sense to me.

I want to search for value in one of my fields (ReferenceID).  So I enter the value of 730 in the Search box (picture 1).

MC shows some fields that contain the value, including ReferenceID, and I select the ReferenceID = 730 value (picture 2).

The value shows in the Search box as 730 (picture 3).

But, when hover and click of the Search box, a tooltip shows that [ReferenceID]=[730] is entered, and indicates there are no results.  And yet the thumbnails results shows all files that include 730 as some value in any field (picture 4).

If I remove the brackets the 730 (eg: [ReferenceID]=730) and enter that expression, the correct results appear.

So, why is MC adding brackets around the value when it clearly showed me, and I selected, the option of selecting a field that contained a value?

when you go into the library and folders and look for your custom field there.
have you enabled 'default search field' for that field?
you can even add for instance RID to the 'search keywords' to make it even easier to search.

does that do what you want?

edit: it just became clear to me that this answer has nothing to do with your question...  :-[

The "Default search field" is (and has been) checked.  Unchecking it doesn't affect anything either (in this case, the value I'm searching only appears in a couple of fields anyway).
