To those knowledgable enough to help a guy out...

My burner (HP 8200e CD-Writer Plus) has had the hiccups for quite some time now.  When I try to rip, I get the following blue screen in WinXP Pro..."IRQ_ NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL".

Here's what the device still does despite the error...

1. Play CDs in both analog and digital modes.
2. Rip with other programs (like MusicMatch....but say it ain't so!!!).
3. CDDB retrieval
4. Pretty much everything else except ripping...

Oddly enough, it worked super slick for sooo long, and now it just poops out.  It rips more reliably than my DVD drive, so it's important I get it up and running so I can finish my collection.

Any suggestions would be cool...

I think this is a driver problem. Did you change your video or cd-rom driver ?  This article at C/NET may be helpful ...

I've read that the ASPI 4.7 was somewhat buggy. Go to adaptec's site and get the latest, 4.71; see if that helps.

Since you have aspi installed, go to "devices settings" and change the drive type to "ASPI" rather than "auto" or "ide" and see if it works any better.

I get this error too, about every 2nd or 3rd time I launch MJ. I finally disabled my CD Burner, and it seems to have solved it. Is there a way (if I'm not using MJ to burn CDs) that I can turn off its detection and scanning of the CD-R?

Once I disabled the burner, MJ launches about 2x faster too - must have something to do with scanning the hardware bus.

I'll try the ASPI setting trick. Hopefully that will help!

HOLY SMOKES, BATMAN!!!  IT WORKS!!!!

I installed the newest ASPI...which doesn't seem to update the version number in MJ under System Info without a reboot (need to do that yet)...

...the other thing was the IDE/AUTOCONFIG setting change in devices for my burner to ASPI....and WOW....am I one happy happy camper.

Thanks a million....all of you.  I really really appreciate it.  This had me bummed out for some time.  Now I can finish ripping my collection.  WOO!
