Upgrading without starting over
« on: May 08, 2010, 04:51:08 pm »

Hi,

I'd like to know if there's a way to install MC15 and recuperate all the data from MC14. I ran MC15 for the first time and it started importing files from my computer. In MC 14 I had spent some time to organize everyting, including assigning covert art on several albums and modifying tag info. I'd like to avoid doing that all over again. There must be a way, right?

Thanks!

mc 15 can restore the library with settings from mc 14. its a new feature. when you make a backup from your library in 14, under file>library. you can, after you installed 15, stop the import and restore the libary from that backup via file>library. choose also to restore the settings. it will want to rebuild thumbnails, and give that some time. but it should work.

mc 15 can restore the library with settings from mc 14.

And it works perfectly. I just migrated from v14 to v15 and both my libraries came in with everything as it was in v14. Had to tweak a few minor things here and there but it was fast and painless.
