Converting audio tapes to wma format
« on: June 26, 2002, 09:57:56 am »

I have tried using MJ to do this but alas I cant seem to get it to work right.  I can copy the first track on tape to wma file format but the 2-3-4-5 so on will start to recod stop start stop start then will do about 30 sec worth of audio then it will go on to the 3 track of the tape but the sec track still places on the boom box.

Can any one help me make sence of what I am doing wrong thanks

There is a FAQ here that may help.

Your volume level may not be set correctly.  There is a test that will automatically set it.

MJ also has settings for how quiet and long the break is before it is considered a track change.

Check out the "Line-in recording" section under the Help menu on this web page. Also check out the on-line help in MJ. Did you run through the "auto-volume" setting before recording? You can disable automatic "track splitting" (devices options page) and then just click the "split track" button when you want to end one track and start the next.

yes I have tried the auto valume control.  Still did not work I will try changing the check box for the auto split track and see if that will work.

I have over 200 old tapes of celtic music that I would love to have on CD.

By the way I love MJ thanks for a great program

What settings were in the "track splitting" box for min gap between tracks, max gap level, min track length, trim silence from gaps? Also, what type of music is it? Pop? Jazz? Classical?
You can improve the accuracy of the auto track splitter by entering the durations of the tracks before hand. Did you know you can download the track names from the internet?
