What's the proper way of sorting two albums from the same year so they are chronological?

Sorting on year won’t help you, you need a second criteria.
You can make a custom fields like AlbumNR or
if you add them to the data base in chronological order maybe you can sort by year / Date Added or
you simply change the year in one of the tracks. If both albums are from 2000 and you give 1 track of the second album the value 2001, MC starts to calculate the average and this value will be slightly higher  than 2000….

You can put a full release date into the Date field instead, and sort by this field instead of Year.

Year is linked to the date field (i.e. put something in Date and Year will automatically update) so you can use date to enter info and sort by but still use Year in views.
